My beautiful girls

I am so thankful to have two beautiful, healthy girls who really love each other. Rachael lights up every time Emma comes around (even though Emma is not always very gentle with her!) And Emma loves her baby sister, calling her "my baby." I always wished for a sister, and I am so happy my girls have each other...

Alan's Divorce Party

My dad with the waitresses...check that smile!!

Alan and his girlfriend, Stacey

Alan's divorce was final a few weeks ago, and he threw a party to celebrate. And WHAT a party it was! There was valet parking, "hot" waitresses, a bartender, catered food, the works! We moved my dad up from Houston last week, so he was there for the party. What a difference from a week ago when we saw him in the hospital. I got the waitresses to pose with him and I've never seen him smile so big! Priceless! He is doing a lot better since coming here and seems to be a lot happier.

My Dad's Progress

Some of you are not on facebook, so just wanted to let you know my dad is not doing well, and we travelled to Houston this weekend to see him. Alan will be flying down there today to bring him and his dog back to Dallas. He has been having very high blood sugar levels and it has affected his memory. So he forgets to take his medicine and it is a vicious cycle. He needs to be monitored. He will probably go to an assisted living place here in Dallas. It is very sad. I am organizing the house to get it ready to sell. It is hard to go through all my mom's old stuff, but not as hard as a year ago, thank God...
We are hopeful that my dad will start to improve once he is here and around family, especially the grandkids...

Maddie approves!!!
Finally! Pictures of our newly renovated bathroom! It is not nearly as dramatic as the renovations I have undertaken in the past (one day I'll post all of those pictures!), but it has made a big difference in our lives and we really like our bathroom now, whereas before, it was a bit of a mess! It was actually done a few weeks ago, but then Brad did the painting, put on cabinet hardware and towel rails, and did some touch up. The photos do not really do it justice, but if you're lucky enough to live in Dallas, you can check it out next time you visit our house!

Easter

Janice, me and Emma

We celebrated Passover last week (sorry, forgot my camera!) and this week it was Easter! I kind of shy away from Christian holidays because I don't want Emma to be confused. But I decided that an Easter egg hunt was very non-religious, so when we were invited to our friends, Janice and Dick (well, Ron Spaulding kind of invited us to their house! Thanks Ron), we gladly accepted. What a FUN day! The food was amazing, the company was welcoming and the Easter egg hunt was the highlight of Emma's weekend. I really enjoyed myself and I know Emma was in her element. Thank you Janice and Dick!

Swimming??? In April???

Emma decided it was time to get in the pool. So, while Brad was doing some pool cleaning, she took off all her clothes (she loves the naked life) and started to splash around the pool. I offered her a bathing suit, and she obliged...

The water is still COLD, but she doesn't seem to notice! She did take a nice, hot bath after in our newly renovated bathroom (pictures coming soon, I promise!)

Rachael and my Dad

My father is visiting Dallas for Passover and I took this photo of him with Rachael this afternoon. He is not in good shape, to put it mildly. He had really gone downhill in the last year. I don't know what happened exactly, but his memory is not good. He also is not eating, and proudly told me he weighs 107 pounds. He is like an anorexic.
Brad had to fly down to Houston to bring him to Dallas because my dad doesn't want to travel alone. Brad said there was just NO food in the house. We are trying to get him to move to Dallas, even telling him he can move into my office (1000 square feet and 2 bathrooms, kitchen). But he really doesn't want to do it. We can't force him, but he really is not fit to live alone. It is a really hard time...
He does eat pretty well while he is here, even tucking into chocolates, previously a no-no.
I haven't felt much like blogging lately, but hope to pick up again soon. Our bathroom renovation is complete, but Brad is still doing some painting, etc., so I will take photos when we have it properly decorated. I really do love the new shower and bathtub...
